Skip College, become a YouTuber?
I listened to a fantastic episode of Noah Kagan’s podcast where he chatted with Ali Abdaal, a UK based doctor and YouTuber.
I started exploring Ali’s content and discovered a fascinating video where he breaks down his income of being a doctor and YouTuber.
In the video, he reveals his weekly earnings and is 100% transparent.
As a doctor he earns £1,387 pounds per week but as a YouTuber he is earning £4,263 PER WEEK, not including his sponsored videos.
Thomas Arnold who helped me with this analysis is one of Ireland’s most popular YouTubers. Check out his channel here and connect with him on LinkedIn.
GymShark sitting on £53m cash
Ben Francis started in his parent’s garage in 2012 with just a sewing machine. The company he founded is now sitting on £53m in cash and worth north of £500m.
To those not familiar with the company, it produces athleisure clothes and tapped into influencer market to fuel its explosive growth.
In this week’s episode, Conor Kearney from Jetbooks helped me analyse how GymShark managed to accumulate so much cash.
The robot overlords are coming, look busy
I was fascinated by this story on Medium this week about the new method of hiring for Amazon workers. This person was hired without ever meeting another human. He watched a video online, did a test and was hired within 20 minutes.
Is this a sign of the Covid times or the future of recruitment?
